Who can resist a smooth South American? Not me, it seems. I picked up a packet of this here Coffee Johnny yesterday, made by the good people at the Ouseburn Coffee Co. Apart from being produced by a local business, the thing that really sucked me in was the story behind the name of the blend, and so it goes: “our superior blend of South American coffee takes it’s name from the local blacksmith and flamboyant bare knuckle boxer John Oliver, who gained notoriety throughout the city for his towering height and a trademark white top hat. No one can now be sure exactly why he was named ‘Coffee Johnny’ but we suspect he liked a brew of one sort or another so raise your cup to Coffee Johnny 1829-1900.” Ha. Totally and utterly random. I love it!

This is a collection of personal work taken while poking around some amazing places during my travels in 2002-2004. Armed with a strong sense of adventure and a Minolta X-300 FILM camera (yes, film people!), it was this time in my life that really cemented my passion for photography. Some of these images will always remain my most favourite. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
